Does heaven need pools? If they do, the best pool man I know is on the way.

Today, I have a heavy heart.  I found out that one of my favorite people passed away.

His name was Richard Parks and was affectionately called "The Pool Man."  A book should be written about him, and his animated personality that was displayed when he started selling you on his services as a pool builder.

The photo is a picture of Richard Parks and Tracey Lear. The picture  was taken a few summers ago.

He had a gleam in his eye and was so animated you never tired of hearing his sales pitch.  What makes this even sadder, just a few years ago, he found the love of his life with a beautiful widow named Tracey Lear.  They were so happy, and I am going to really miss him. I can tell you there are many interesting characters in Riding The Bull and he was one of my favorites.  I have a feeling there will be some new pools built in Heaven.  Rest in Peace "Pool Man."

Mickey said he was going to write a book about his life and I didn't think that much of it. Well, I was in for a big surprise.

The book is available on Amazon in both print and digital editions. Go to Amazon books and search on Mickey Murry.

Here is a review by a first reader.
 ------------------------

Hello, my name is Darell and I have lived in the same apartment complex as Mickey and Brenda for over 2 years. I watch him and Brenda walk Bo (their dog) and they are always very friendly. Mickey said he was going to write a book about his life and I didn't think that much of it. Well, I was in for a big surprise. I am amazed that someone of Mickey's caliber would even say hello to me.

He is a very humble person. His book says it all and does an excellent job of it. In his book Riding the Bull he explains the highs and lows of his life and makes it so fascinating and interesting. I hated to put it down to do my daily chores. It makes you want to know what the next adventure is going to be like. I know Mickey really did and still does love all of his wives in a special way. He has every right to be proud of his children and their success. In his book you will ride with him in limos, helicopters, and jets.

You will meet very distinguished people like Bob Hope, Joe Gibbs, Gerald Ford, and many others. My wife and I were wondering during many parts of the book how after building all those house's and mansions that he wound up in an apartment in the end. Well the way he puts the story together you will easily understand. I would and will highly recommend Riding the Bull to any and everyone I know and come in contact with. Brenda after meeting you as well, I am very proud to know you.

Mickey you have a real winner here. Murry Homes was a winner but this time I predict you will not fall off this bull! Your Friends Darell and Tammy .

The bull is out of the chute.

Flash. We have jumped all the hurtles, crossed all the bridges, climbed all the mountains, traversed all the rivers, navigated the passage ways of the publishing industry and we have arrived at the finish line. The pre-purchased autographed copies will be sent out next week.

Here are a few testimonials from early readers. There are more testimonials that I will be blogging on in the next few days. Also look for the Amazon announcement where you will be able to purchase print or digital copies for your iPad or Kindle.

And if you still wish an autographed copy, you can still purchase one at this blog.

Jackie Fechner, successful real estate sales agent.

"Put on your boots and get ready for a 220 volt ride. Right out of the chute from the first page to the last, once you are on the bull --it's hard to get off."

Dave Williams, successful builder and developer in Texas.

"A great ride from beginning to end- A great read."

What do the early readers say?

One Texan reported, " A great ride from beginning to end. A great read."

As you may know, we have had 20 smart, successful, diligent people pouring over proof copies of my book, night and day, and telling me what they think. Of course, I was nervous; however, it has been a great experience for me and more fun than owning my jet.

Another early reader Texan said, "Put on your boots and get ready for a 220 volt ride. Right out of the chute from the first page to the last, once you are on the bull it's hard to get off."

The early readers love the story. You will too. As we make the last touches to the book, I may be a bit late in getting the personalized copies out by mid-July. My early readers tell me that when you get yours, it will be worth the wait. I initially thought it might be a fascinating story and fun to read, and my early readers have confirmed it. Thank heaven!

Let me personalize a copy for you. Buy a copy for yourself and several copies for your friends and let me earn the right to be your favorite Texas author.

Shake a hand, get a customer. Celebrate National Handshake Day.

Today is National Handshake day.  As I explain in my book, a handshake is a simple, but still a powerful tool in personal and business relationships.

And listening to all the hype on TV, it made me think of how important my theory of the importance of that handshake was to my success. It is also something that I try to teach in my book Riding The Bull. I mention this technique in several chapters of my book.

For many years, "I want to earn the right to be your builder " was printed on all my literature and in all my ads. Also, after spending time with a customer, my favorite technique was to close the deal by giving them a firm and slow handshake while looking them in the eye and saying with conviction, "I want to earn the right to be your builder."

This technique worked and it created a memorable bond between me and my customers.

This approach can apply to anything you are doing in life and it is among the many things I teach in Riding The Bull for people who want to be "Winners."

And now, I want to earn the right to be your favorite Texas author. Let me personalize a copy for you or for your friends.

It's a blast to own your own jet.

I did not have a jet when I was first married, but I was still in a hurry. The following is taken directly from the book and I can assure that a jet is better than the 57 Ford I had.

"After six weeks of dating, Joy and I decided to sneak off and get married. I was really ready. I had learned the lesson: if a girl wants to marry you, they just don’t give it up. No marriage, no sex. On a Friday, we drove 32 miles north to Hillsboro, had lunch and then got the nerve to go to the courthouse and apply for a marriage license. They practically threw us out because of our age. But someone there told us that they would not make us show any proof of age in Bell County, so we got back in the car. Bell County was over 100 miles away, and we had about an hour and a half to get there before the courthouse closed for the day. I had a brand new 1957 Ford, and we drove over 100 mph, to just make it at the last moment. They asked our age, and we lied and they said nothing. We were married, way too young to make those kinds of decisions."

If you wish to read more about my jet setting days, buy the book. I would love to personalize a copy for you.

I built dreams for a living. I called them homes.

Dolores and Me. I am on the right. We won so many awards it was embarrassing, not really.  Our six years in Oklahoma was a great story in itself. When we arrived in Broken Arrow and opened our model, sales exploded. When we left six years later, sales almost stopped.  We made a difference.

We hired, trained and motivated several young men who are now successful builders. We created much success for the developers of Battle Creek and the community by building close to one billion dollars in homes.

We won over fifty awards including six national awards. We won the big prize twice "The Peoples Choice." We put together a team of winners who had fun and success.  On the surface things were great, but behind the scenes we were struggling for survival. Our parent company never delivered the promised capital.

You have to read the book to try and understand this unbelievable story of intrigue and deception.
